Three Projects, One Goal: Advancing Trust and Security in the EOSC

The core challenge facing European research today is simple: how to securely manage sensitive data while keeping it open and accessible. To address this, TITAN, SIESTA and ENTRUST are joining forces to host a joint technical workshop.

The event, titled ‘EOSC SIESTA, ENTRUST and TITAN joint workshop,’ aims to highlight complementarities between the projects and foster critical collaboration around secure and trustworthy data management solutions within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The 90-minute session on Wednesday, 10 December 2025 (10:00–11:30 CEST) is structured to provide both context and deep technical insight.

The first half-hour will establish the strategic context. Dr. Álvaro López García (SIESTA) will open the workshop by introducing SIESTA’s concept, its tiered data model for sensitivity, and the high-level platform architecture. Dr. Ulriika Vihervalli (ENTRUST) will then provide a compact overview of the EOSC ENTRUST project, detailing work and outputs achieved so far. Prof. Antonio Skármeta (TITAN coordinator) will describe TITAN’s main objectives, challenges, and the vital role of confidential computing in its architecture for privacy-preserving data sharing.

Three in-depth technical presentations will then take place:

  • SIESTA: Andres Heredia Canales (CSIC) will detail the project’s approach to building a cloud-native confidential computing platform based on TEEs and DevSecOps methodologies, highlighting key project milestones.
  • ENTRUST: Peter Lényi (Masaryk University) will provide a technical overview of the ENTRUST architecture and its contributions.
  • TITAN: Prof. Antonio Skármeta (UM) will focus on the TITAN architecture enablers for secure data sharing and auditing mechanisms. This presentation will cover relebvant topics like data access control and the end-to-end secure data processing framework for collaborative and privacy-preserving Machine Learning (ML) using Trusted Execution Environments.

This workshop is essential for researchers, data scientists, and industry professionals seeking practical knowledge on how these three Horizon Europe projects are building the foundational trust layers for the next generation of scientific collaboration.
