Funded by the European Commission, TITAN (Trusted envIronments for confidenTiAl computiNg and secure data sharing) it’s a 36-month project that will deliver an open-source software platform focused on enabling secure sensitive data sharing, and demonstrate them in the EOSC ecosystem.
F6S plays a crucial role in disseminating the project’s advancements, ensuring standardization, and exploring its exploitation, aiming to maximize TITAN’s impact on the landscape of secure data sharing.
Check the interview with Thaís Soares, from F6S, where she shares another expert perspective on the project’s journey, challenges and potential to revolutionise research and innovation.

Why did you join this project? What kind of potential did you see in it?
F6S joined the TITAN project because of its great potential to create a secure data sharing paradigm of secure access to sensitive public data and applications aligned with the EOSC Interoperability Framework. Moreover, it was clear to us that this was a great opportunity to help researchers get access to more data. We truly believe that this can lead to more innovation and better outcomes, which aligns with F6S’ mission to support innovation and growth within the European ecosystem
What is the role of your company in this project?
F6S is the leader of the work packages related to Dissemination, Standardisation and Exploitation, being responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive communication and dissemination plan. This includes engaging with industry stakeholders, scientific communities and the wider public, while also working on the Ecosystem Bootstrap, and Cluster and EOSC Partnership Collaboration Framework. Additionally, F6S is managing and supporting other partners working directly on Business model and Innovation Management.
What have been the project’s biggest challenges so far?
One of the biggest challenges faced by the TITAN project is navigating the complexities of data protection regulation across different European countries. To consider these diverse landscapes is crucial but also very delicate to be implemented. When it comes to the communication and dissemination activities, we can say that one of the main challenges is to communicate highly technical advancements to a broad audience, which requires careful planning and execution.
And by the end, what do you expect to be TITAN’s impact on the area of secure data sharing?
We fully believe that TITAN will offer a strong positive impact in the landscape of secure data sharing by establishing a new standard for accessing and utilising sensitive public data. We expect that the project’s work allows researchers to share data, which will lead to more discoveries and innovations, advancing Open Science practices in Europe.
If you had to describe the project in a few words, what would it be?
Protecting data, advancing research.
