Science Europe’s 40 members rally behind EOSC Partnership in FP10

Science Europe, which brings together 40 leading research funding and research performing organisations from 30 European countries, has issued a position statement calling for a clear and robust framework under the EU’s next research and innovation programme, FP10, to secure the long-term future of EOSC.

In its statement, released on 31 March 2026, Science Europe supports the continuation of EOSC as a European Partnership and highlights the importance of early clarity on governance and sustainable funding. The organisation also warns that, without timely decisions, Europe risks fragmentation and a loss of trust among research communities and infrastructure providers.

This statement is particularly relevant for projects such as EOSC-SIESTA, which contribute to the broader EOSC ecosystem by developing tools, services and frameworks that support the secure and responsible use of sensitive data in research. In this context, the long-term sustainability of EOSC is essential to ensure that these efforts can continue to grow, connect with other initiatives and generate lasting impact across the European Research Area.

The endorsement also carries significant weight. Science Europe’s members are among the largest public research funders in Europe, collectively investing more than €25 billion in research every year. Since 2020, the organisation has also served as an Observer in the EOSC Association, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to the development of EOSC and to Europe’s wider Open Science agenda.

For EOSC-SIESTA, this alignment is an important signal. It reflects a shared understanding that EOSC is not only a supporting infrastructure for research, but a strategic element in Europe’s capacity to enable collaboration, data-driven science and trustworthy digital environments for scientific progress
